Sitapur is an important administrative town in Surguja District of Chhattisgarh state. It is actually headquarter of Sitapur Tehsil, one of the 19 tehsils in Surguja District. Transportation in Sitapur

Only few state run buses do ply from this town, but there is no railway station serving here. In fact there is no railway station within the range of 10 to 15 kms. Nearby railway stations like Ambikapur Railway Station and Korba Railway Station are located quite far away. There are very limited or few public transportation options available in Sitapur town. This limited and few available options actually constitutes of only decent number of auto rickshaws, which only ply in limited areas of the town. Owing to their limited availability local people here many a times have to make considerable efforts to get auto rickshaws.

Tourist Destinations in Sitapur

Located just 30 kms away from Sitapur is Mainpat Hills Station, unarguably one of the most beautiful tourist destinations of Chattisgrah state. Here there are intrinsically beautiful waterfalls, amazing views, lush green mountains and also immensely beautiful forests. This place is indeed unlike any other in entire Chhattisgarh. This is exactly why most people in Chattisgrah refer this hills station as ‘Shimla of Chattisgrah’. Apart from ‘Shimla of Chattisgrah’, Mainpat hills station is also known as ‘Mini Tibet’. This unique title is because significant Tibetan Buddhist population has been living here for many decades. You’ll in fact many beautiful Buddhist temples here. Over all, Mainpat is too good a place to be missed. It certainly should not be if anyone is briefly staying in and around Sitapur town.

At present Sitapur exposure to modern banking services is certainly very much limited. Just one or two banks are operating their branches in this part of Chhattisgarh. Considering Sitapur’s meager population of 10,000 these few available banks can be termed as pretty much enough.
